How does this speed test work?
The page downloads and uploads test data straight from your browser and measures how long each takes. Download speed, upload speed and latency are shown separately — no app and no account needed.
Why is my speed lower than my plan promises?
Providers quote the maximum on the wire. Wi-Fi, distance to the router, evening load and the route to the test server all take their share. Measuring over cable and repeating a few times gives the honest number.
Does a VPN slow down the connection?
A little, always: traffic goes through an extra server and gets encrypted. On a nearby server the loss is usually a few percent; a server on another continent costs more in latency than in speed.
